Managing Director

Ian Foley has a BSc (Hons) degree in Electronic Engineering, and an MSc in Control Systems. Ian has a proven track record in the successful development of new technologies. After being responsible for the development of the Lotus Active Suspension system raced by Team Lotus in Formula 1 in 1993, Ian set up his own consultancy and has successfully developed control systems in the power and racing industries.

Gordon Day

Operations Director

Gordon Day has a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from London Business School. Gordon began his career with Ingersoll Rand Corporation, a global diversified industrial company, in their Engineering Advanced Development Programme. He joined Williams Grand Prix Engineering in 1998 where he has held key roles on both the Engineering and Commercial sides of the Formula One team including Race Engineer, Head of Advanced Development (R&D) and Head of Business Development. Gordon joined Williams Hybrid Power in June 2010 as Operations Director.

Grant Lumsden

Technical Director

Grant graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queensland University and later completed a PhD at Melbourne University. He has worked in the area of new product development for most of his career, at companies such as Ford, Cummins and Mahle. An engine and powertrain specialist, he has authored numerous technical papers in the field of improving vehicle fuel efficiency, be it through optimisation, combustion chemistry, or downsizing. This focus on fuel efficiency has naturally drawn him to the possibilities of electric and hybrid drive systems. Grant joined WHP in September 2010 as Technical Director.
